octane ? high test or reg.

Just a quick question. 07 Vmax carb 150hp. I have never owned a fuel injected motor always Carb. In my past three outboards alot of the times I ran 93, my motors seem to start better, idle smoother, and not load up as bad. When I bought this motor they told me run 87 in it. What do you all think would be best, the motor I have now does not idle as well as I think it should and Im wondering if 93 would help or is this not a good idea. thanks alot

I was always told to run 87.The higher octane will run great for a while but will not burn as clean because it takes higher performance motors to burn it.If yours is older and no problems I would'nt switch.

    oh yea,

ALWAYS run Yamaha Ring Free in that carb motor!

    "ALWAYS"!

Keeps those carb motors from carboning up!

been using Seafoam in all my motors, but when ya sit down and think...........

I just bought a 32 ox of Ring Free that will treat around 320 gallons, and let's say I use a little extra, and it treats 250 gallons, at $33.00.
    That's $33 to treat 250 gallons

Now Seafoam is $7.00 for a 16 oz, that treats around 16 gallons. To treat the same 250 gallons (and that's treating with extra) I do with Ring Free at $33, it going to cost me around $110 using Seafoam.

I'm using Ring Free in my Yammie.

I'll agree with how great of a product Seafoam is, been using it for around 10 yrs now, in my boats, quads, lawnmowers, cars. trucks.... but Ring Free is a great one also, and still cheaper!

With the price of gas, I have to start justifying just how much is enough!
