I have an 03 Yamaha VMAX 150 OX66 Fuel Injected outboard. I also have the SELOC repair manual for my motor. I am in the process of replacing the water. I have read through the process about 4-5 times before starting anything. Everything seemed pretty straight forward. I've turned wrenches before. Anyway, I got the prop and lower end of just fine. The water pump housing was a piece of cake as well. Now the SNAG!!! I connot get the impellar off of the drive shaft anf the manual makes no mention of how to do it. It just says pull off the impellar or work it up thr drive shaft. The problem is when you install the impellar it is held on by a (from bottom to top) a washer, wave washer, washer, spacer and collar. When istalling the collar is tapped down over the spacer to a tight fit to hold the impellar in place. How do I get that collar, spacer and washers off to remove the impellar? I called a Yamaha service tech lastnight and he said they normally cut them off and replace them. I have no problem doing that, I just question if its necessay being that the manual makes no mention of it and those washers are not included in the service/repacement kit (when everything else that is removed is inclured. I tried prying the collar of with a flat head, it will budge a little but won't come off. Any suggestions? Thanks.
