Motor surges at mid range and won't go over 4000rpm's. Replaced water separator with no improvement. Any ideas as to whats causing this?

Water seperator?
aer you refering to the one in the hull,what about the filters on the engine
Did the separator in the hull and cleaned the one on the motor.
I had this same issue with my 04 250hpdi , and it was the high pressure filter in the canister on the passenger side of the engine ( 85.00). I did the work myself and I think there is a stickey link on this board as the how too.... The filter did not look dirty to me but it made one heck of a difference.. good luck
