Does anybody know the proper spark plug gap for a 2003 model Evinrude 225 HO? Engine seems to be idling a bit rough and I thought I might check the plugs but I did not know what the gap should be.
Thanks and tightines--

I believe it's .028". The original gap was .030" before the revision.

Miguel is right tight .028 and check em often!!!
Thanks guys. I pulled my plugs and I bet the gap was more like .060!!! No wonder she was rough at idle. I will reset the gap in the temporary and get me some new plugs ordered ASAP. I appreciate the info.

One more thing: Make sure you index the plugs correctly. This is VERY important!![]()

So if I have a 2001 225HO I have to index my plugs? I will be replacing them this spring.

So rather than put shims under the plugs you have to keep changing until you find one that has the starting point of the thread in the right position in relation to the electrode arm. That may not be the right name for the hook on the end of the plug.
The sparkplug threads are "timed" on each cylinder head, so if a plug does not line up on one bank, it will work fine on the opposite side.

Do you specify which bank plugs you want?

No, you can get a loan from any BANK when you have to buy a new set of plugs.![]()
