    Water dripping out of cowling

Ok, I'm dumbfounded. I can't figure it out. After a run at wot, I stop and tilt the motor up I have water dripping out from the 2 little drain holes for like a few minutes. I've attached a hose to my motor and started it and no water leaks. I can't be taking in that much water through the rear vents when coming to a stop, can I? I watch behind me numerous times and when coming to a stop, the boat would sink as usual and the after wake would rise to cowl height or slightly above and come all the way to the top of the motor. I'm hoping it's just that and not a leak at higher rpms.

Check your speedo tube , it is more than likely leaking or off completely

Might want to also remove your cowling and check the gasket,i have seen this happen a few times.

Do you have a water pressure gauge? if so, your hose may have come off at the engine

Check all of the bolts on the cover between the heads on the rear of the engine. My did the same thing once and the bolts on the cover were loose enough to let water escape at the gasket.

My psi gauge works fine, my speedo doesn't work. I've check both the speedo and pis hose and they're tight. I'll have to test turn every nut & bolt to make sure it's tight. Also it doesn't seem to drip any water if I don't run wot, just drips a little like water draining around the outside of the cowl seal.

Ditto what "crankbaitcorner" said. I had water dripping out of my cowling as well and it was because the bolts were loose. I actually had 2 of them fall out.
I've got a 2000 200HP 3.1L VMAX and was told that it's pretty common. Got them tightened and haven't had a problem since. (About 2 years ago)

I have a 04 225 hpdi and mine does the samething from time to time. I've checked everything over and couldn't find anything causing it. I just thought it was from water washing in after coming off of plane.

I took everything off the back and checked all the bolts, every nut & bolt is tight. All hoses doubled checked and looks good. What I do notice is dry water spots around the rear area indicating thats where water is coming from. Only thing left is to back the boat in the water while still on the trailer and floor it with the cowl off to see if I can see anything. I'll try it this week when I'm off work.
