I've got the itch to upgade my 150 carb vmax to a 175 hdpi. my 150 is an '04. Does the 175 hdpi justify the expense of a new motor. I really just want the max motor for my '04 tr-186.

A lot of money for a little gain. The carb. Motor seems to be more reliable. You can buy a ton of gas w/ the money you will save. I looked into upgrading my 04 150 to the 175 last year, cheapest deal I found was still 5k and a year later the motor is worth even less.
I got the same itch. Im runnin the 150Vmax and would like to go to the 200.

Is that 5k for just the trade, or for the whole trade/swap install ?

That was for the whole trade/swap install.
5k will go pretty far with performance parts also, hydrotech has a nice kit for the 150.... probably have plenty left for some gas

Thats true, someone on Fastbass is claiming his 150 dynos 237 after hydrotec did their work on it...![]()
Here is a thought, how about selling the 150 powerhead and buying a 200 powerhead from one of the rebuild companies or something like that.I have a 1998 150vmax with the stage 2 hydrotec kit with 311 hrs. on the moter after install. and it runs better than new and is probably pumping out around 200hp.But with higher gas prices, higher compression + higher octane=more money at the gas station.Plus if you get a stock 200 power head you can install the hydrotec kit later on to get even more hp.This is a good idea and I strongly suggest you do this as soon as possible.
