I am considering buying a used 2000 Johnson 200 to replace my 1990 GT200. Engine has about 150 hours on it and compression is good.
How good were the 2000 engines?
I would appreciate any and all comments.
BTW, the price seems right.

Ask Bassmeister, I got one on my champ. Pops off 3rd crank in the AM pretty quiet and it is strong. It pushes the 201 Champ to upper 60's WFO T load. Next best thing to a DI.
Thanks for the info Championman. I think I'll go ahead and buy this one since the price is right. My GT is in good shape but I don't trust it because of the age. Guess at the right price it doesn't hurt to have a "spare".Since I am changing from a 6" jackplate to a 10" slidemaster anyway it is a good time to swap engines also.
Bassmeister says.............. GOOOOOOOO for it!!!!!!! Fred has one of the smoothest running carb motors I've ever seen or heard!!!! Course he's good with em!!!
i have a 2000 johnson 150 carb runs very smooth.2000 javelin renegade 19
I've got a 99 Johnson 200 carb motor and it runs great. Starts right up when it is cold in the morning and runs like a champ. Pushes my Javelin 20 FS to 65 WOT with me and the kids in for a ride. I think they are pretty much the same motor.
