Buying a new 2006 VMAX 200 HPDI, thoughts?

Hi all,

I am 99% there on buying a new boat with the 200 HPDI. From reading these forums, I see a few problems with them (Oil pump, noise resulting in blowing up, etc.).

I was hoping you guys can give me a rundown on all the issues (service bulletin, recalls, experience, etc.) It may be worth (no headaches) just swapping out for a different motor (series 2 or the new 225 four stroke).

yours wont be on the oil pump list, its mostly o66 3.1 & 3.3 ltr, yours will be the 2.6, a great motor, a little lighter, and smaller, not quit as torquey, but with the 23m prop that comes on it, it will jump out of the hole

yes yours will be the 3.3 liter, in 05 they went to the 3.3 liter, i have the same motor and it has been flawless.

My 06' 250 hpdi has been perfect. The 200 is a great motor, but buy lots of oil. I have never seen a motor drink as much oil as mine. But I guess that is better than it running lean, blowing up, and leaving me stranded somewhere.

nothing sez fast like a vmax.....once you hear that beast rummbling on the back you'll know why they are so love.....mine...06 200 HPDI...go for it...

mine didnt drink oil until i got the oil pumped recall fixed. but it does drink oil now, but its better than blowing up a motor.

hes looking at the sl line, should come with the grey cowling, a 2.6 ltr, I have one! and love it, it it has the black Vmax cowl, then i'm am wrong

I have the 2006 200 hpdi so far awesome, if you do buy it check to see if oil pump was change out . its under warranty yamaha sent letters out. if you buying from dealer make sure he has the service bulletin
