Are you running it strong enough doses? Do you shock treat the motor? Have you changed the plugs lately? Some carbon is normal... Mine looked fairly clean even when they would foul out. Thats when I used the br9hs-10... Now I use the br8hs-10 and have the same plugs for 2 years... That reminds me I should change them...

I have no plug problems...never even had one foul...I change them every two years...I apply I know way to much seafoam...I don't even measure....I really think it's the Yamalube...don't get me wrong the indside of my hub is clean....but I have more carbon and I think I should and it looks oil related....engine runs strong though....the Yamaha Tech did say I my TPS was off a little and he adjusted it...

Some carbon is normal for a oil burning 2 stroke. Keep ir as clean as possible.

It's all the additives in the fuel now. There is a thread out there for using a shock treatment every 50 - 100 hours to remove the carbon instead of treating each tank. Google "Dunk" (the author) and "decarbon" and you should find it.

Re: Yamalube and Carbon Build-up (Special K III)

I was told by a yammie mechanic that seafoam has ash in it and adds to the carbon problem. Mine 05 225 had large chuncks of wet soft debris in the cylinders and was told to change to yammie brand additive. Havent got to the bottom of the tanks yet to tell if i cleans it up.

Ok...now I am confused.....are we supposed to run seafoam 1 oz per gallon or ringfree at 1 oz per 10 gallon....what is best for these 2 strokes.....

Re: Yamalube and Carbon Build-up (Trent_in_BG)

I run 1 ounce of Seafoam per gallon of fuel... it works great and keeps the carbon buildup to a minimum. My engine idles smoother and starts at the turn of the key.
