Does the hour meter on a 2006, 250 HPDI count with key "on", or does motor actually have to be running? Left my key on over the weekend and I'm off about 48 hrs on the meter at dash.
Thanks

I might be wrong but I think the on board computer time has to have the motor running.

The ECM will log actual running hours. It also groups this within rpms ranges, along with the total hours.

I was told by a certified Yamaha technician that hours ARE logged on a motor if the key is in the "ON" position. I have an 05' ZX225 HPDI and half of the hours are 0-1000 RPM. This technician said that a reading like that was unusual and that the previous owner probably left the key in the "ON" position a couple of times.
That is what I suspected. I left my key on for about 48 hours or so.
