No water stream until motor put in gear???

    1992 Evinrude 200STLEN

When I first fire the motor,it will barely be dripping water. When I put it in gear and give it a quick stomp of the pedal,it starts pushing out a little better. As I get to higher rpm's down the lake, the stream is very strong.Shouldnt it be a strong stream the whole time, even at idle?

Well, when's the last time you replaced it? Every 1-2 years depending on how much you use it is standard maintenance. Easy job to do, especially w/ the Rude tip/procedure available here!

The good thing is that you have a stream. I would worry if it wasn't evident...

When you first fire the motor it takes a short time to fill the block cooling system with water.

Im with Miguel, when is the last time you had the water pump replaced?

    Will do.

Another little thing that is happening with my water pressure gauge is that whether there is no water coming out or I'm at 5500 rpm and the stream is strong, the water gauge runs about 5-6 at all times. It should fluctuate with rpm's correct?

Is the gauge bad?Not hooked up correctly?

UHHH, I'm gonna say the gauge here, If the wp is wore out it will give more pressure at higher rpms At least every 3 yrs I reccomend replacing the wp. When I first notice the wp lower than before is a good indicator! JMHO

3 year 300hrs which ever comes first. Disconnect the hose from the gauge and with a New H20 kit on put it on the muffs. Should blow any junk out of the hose to the gauge and will burp the line. If the gauge don't move then you'll need a new gauge. But you should run about 6-8 when the motor fills up. Like Rusty says that is an 8 gallon pressure cooker. .
