I have a Friend that owns a 2003 200 HO and needs to know what the difference between the Lightning and the Magnum gear case is?? He has heard the Lightning gear case has failed on his motor and above application, and the Magnum is the way to go. Any info would be great so I can pass it on. Thank you.

If he gets a new Lightning, he will be fine. There were some 2003 models that have had problems but the gearcases had some modifications done after that and they are solid.

The motor he just purchased and was told it was a 2004 lightning that is on it now, so it sounds like he should be ok then. Thank you for the reply Kenneth.
