I purchased a 06 Skeeter ZX190 with a Yamaha VMAX (carb)150 in early Dec. The day after the first trip on the water I noticed that the non digital trim gauge was between 1/4 and 1/2. I never had a trim guage on my older boat so I thought it might have been reading where the motor was at when I shut it off. But then I remembered the transom saver(never had one of those either) was conected, so the motor was slightly tilted outward and might have been reading that position also. But when I took it out the next time, I made sure the motor was all the way in before taking off and the guage was still reading the same. tilting it upward just a little makes the needle top out, but I know the motor is not that far out. I called the dealer when I got home and asked him if there was an adjustment that I could make or did I need to bring it back. He said that this was something new that Yamaha did recently to void bringing the motor to far out. Since I never had a trim guage, I always used a visual sighting and by a count once the motor hit the second stage that I could hear and feel. I can't hear this one or feel it hitting that second stage point. The motor is still in the break in period and I am still learning the RPM's and the angles. I don't want to want to rely completely on the guage but would like to know that it is working correctly.
Anybody else have this issue with the trim gauge? Or know for sure if this is the way that Yamaha did set it up?
Thanks
