5200 rpm's in this hot weather. 13.25x15 turbo on a lowe 170W. my understanding is that the prop of choice for the small displacement yamaha 3 cylinder motors is powertech's semi cleaver prop. probably a 13.25x17 for most aluminum bassboats.

    Re: Yamaha 90hp 2-stroke (DC202)

They are an excellent lightweight outboard. Substantially less weight than the others. Top rpm is 5500 according to the manual. Nice motors but a little on the weak side. They are very prop dependent due to the small displacement and lack of torque. I am presently using the Powertech YM90SCD3R17. This is the semi cleaver prop these motors seem to like. I get 5200 rpm when it's cool early in the day but as the day heats up usually drop down to 5000 rpm except when very lightly loaded. These motors produce around 84 hp whereas the Mercury and Johnson 2 stroke 90s are closer to 100 hp than 90. I know of 1 guy who's Yamaha developed 90.5 hp after adding carbon fiber reeds, hp head and an exhaust tuner.
