I was thinking about putting one in and just have a few questions. The motor is a 2000 150hp V-Max OX66 EFI TRP
1. I have the rubber fuel hose that goes from my tank selector switch to the back of the boat where it connects to the primer bulb. Would the primer bulb go before or after the filter?
2. Should I get the Yamaha one or the see thru racor filter?
3. Since I have slack in the fuel line can I just cut it and then put the 2 ends on the filter nipples?

1) Primer bulb would go before the filter so you can pump gas to the filter
2) Would not make any difference Racor or Yamaha, get the one you can get the best deal on. I have the see thru Racor one.
3)Yes you can cut the fuel line and connect the 2 ends to the filer in and out. Just make sure that the it is connected correctly in and out.
The instruction on the Yamaha filter kit has the bulb after the filter.....

For the regular carb 150VMAX, which set do you get. The high (90GPH) or the low (50GPH). I'm at a lost on this one.

I spoke to Racor about this filter and just a word of caution,get the filter WITHOUT the seethru bowl if you mount it inside any compartment.If for some reason a spark or even a wire gets hot and burns up touching the bowl you know what could happen.My dad is also a retired fireman and probably wouldn't go in the boat if he saw that.

The max fuel flow on the big Yamahas is only about 30 gph so either of the Racors (or Yamaha) filters would work. If you have room for the 90 gph filter and it makes you more comfortable then by all means use it, but either will work fine. You will find the clear bowl Racors outsell the metal bowls by 50:1. People like to see any water building up in the bowl. If you've got sparks flying and wires arcing you don't need to be in the boat anyway. The primer bulb goes after the filter (outlet side...).

I put my bulb before the filter. you can fill the filter with the bulb that way and it is easier to prime. If you put the bulb after the filter you will have to fill the filter before you screw it on and will be a pain to get primed. But then each his own.
I have the clear bottom filter and am not sure why it would be any different then the solid one in a compartment with sparks as long as it is not leaking. But then you should not have sparking in your boat anyway!! I think my Racors is a 50 gph and it handles the big 300 fine. If it is holding me back then I would need to run a 36p prop if I had the 90gph
The most any outboard will burn is around 35gph and not very many will reach that mark. So buy what you want but just be sure to buy one or the other.
Do you have to buy the fittings or does it come with them? If I have to buy them do they need to be ones with o-rings or do you use something like teflon tape?

With the Racors you have to buy the fitting and you can use teflon tape or some other kind of thread sealant.
kbkindle just installed racor water seperator today fuel line from tank then water seperator then primer ball then it goes into motor before installing water seperator fill filter with fuel no problem. on the water out let screw at bottom has been made to put a small hose to it so you can drain it off any where you want kb
