    tach question....

I am nearing completion on my repower job(01 225 FICHT).....I just replaced my old tach to the new "smart tach" all omc....part # 177107....this is the model that has the no oil, hot, chk engine, and low oil sensors on the gauge.

My problem is that when I turn the motor off, the tach stays at 500 rpms it does not go back to zero...I also noticed a black arrow on the back of the gauge that is pointing to position six......where should this be set?????and what does 5, 6, and PUL/REV stand for?

I always appreciate the help from everyone.....

    Re: tach question.... (nomoreosama)

It does not matter where the tach needle ends up after turning the key to OFF. Just make sure when you turn the key to ON, that the needle goes to 0.

The 6 on the back of the tach is the normal setting fory your motor.

    Re: tach question.... (nomoreosama)

Thanks for the quick response SEAHORSE....the needle goes back to about 100 rpms, when the key is turned back on. With a little tap it drops down all the way.....I can live with that....

    Many thanks,
    Paul
