    Compression numbers?

I just got my boat back from the shop, after having the seals changed in the LU.

They did a compression check also, but I forgot to ask if it was good or bad. Since I don't know diddly squat about outboards, I thought I'd post them here, and let ya'll tell me.

    It's a 1991, 150 faststrike...

    Re: Compression numbers? (OkieBoatMech)

I'm taking my motor to dealer soon.
    It's 04' 225 HO.
If I get anything over 100 psi,,,,,good for me too?
Just wondering if the number should be different for different motor size.

    Re: Compression numbers? (darider)

While the numbers posted look good not all motors will be 100 PSI or better, some carb motors will have 80-90 PSI and for that motor that is also good.

Also, I own 3 compression guages and all 3 will give a different reading on the same cylinder so keep in mind different guages will give different readings.

When we post compression numbers they are for that model motor only, if you have a different model your numbers could vary.

Your 04 225HO should be around 120 PSI but that will depend on the guage your tech uses.
