    Voltage Regulator/Stator

I just put a brand new stator on my motor (95 Mariner 200 MagEFI) and noticed that the stator has two long wires and two short wires, but one long wire and one short wire is yellow while the other long wire and short wire is yellow w/black stripes. I know the two long wires go to one regulator and the two short wires go to the other regulator, but does there a difference between the yellow and yellow/black wires? The two wires coming off the regulator are both just solid yellow. I hope this makes sense...

Can you provide the stator's PART NUMBER (and is it an OEM Stator)?

Stator is CDI Electronics part #174-9610K 2
Also, each regulator has a grey wire/bullet connector coming from them, which I guess is a ground, one is hooked up and the other isnt. I found nothing for it to hook up too. Should both grey bullet connectors be hooked up to something?

The gray wires are for the tach, only one is hooked up and on my 98 175 EFI the other has a rubber plug. Either one will work, you should have a black wire with a ring terminal on each regulator which goes under the mounting nuts.
Don't have a clue about the yellow and black stripe wire, that non standard color codeing for merc. Their's is just all yellow, would take a guest that is is just the other wire for the regulator. I would check will the manufactor of the stator and see if they also make regulators, check their wiring diagrams or call them.

    That explains the strange colors.

The gray wire is indeed the tach signal wire.... only ONE of the two regulators will be connected to the gray wire.

There should have been an instruction sheet in the box with the stator that explained the wire colors (one of the disadvantages of these aftermarket units is their non-standard wiring).

Here's a link to the install instructions from their website:

    Good luck!
