Can anybody tell me what RPMs I should be running at idle, with motor in neutral and in gear while running on muffs?
Motor is a 1999 175EFI.

Going to be hard to set Idle rpm on the muffs. Need to do it in the water, with boat in gear. I am thinking it is 650 rpm like this but could be wrong.
650 +/- 50 RPM, while IN THE WATER, in FORWARD GEAR.
It's the only accurate way to set engine idle speed.![]()

Thanks Don. Do I adjust this utilizing the throttle cable?

NO.
Throttle cable must be disconnected, and throttle arm fully against the idle stop.
Need to know engine serial number in order to determine correct idle setting proceedures (best guide is a factory Service Manual for that SPECIFIC engine).![]()

The help is greatly appreciated.

DO NOT alter ANY of the screws on the black throttle arm (bolted to the port side of the engine).
If you look between the VST and the Intake (at the linkage for the upper throttle plate), you'll note a flat-head screw. This is your idle adjustment screw.
