    Bent Shaft

We are at Lake Guntersville fishing. This is our first day out. One of the boats hit a stump and has bent the shaft on his Mercury. Will it hurt it anymore if he just idles with it for the rest of the week? We are six hours from home and have two other boats in our party and we aren't going back until Saturday.

With the gearcase in NEUTRAL, spin the propeller.

Focus on the "dimple" at the end of the propshaft.

If you can VISIBLY SEE the dimple "wobbling"... I would NOT recommend running it. Continuing to run the gearcase with a warped/bent propshaft can cause substantial internal damage to bearings, gears, seals, etc.
