Power Head Blown on '95 XR6! Need Replacement! EFI Possibly?

Well, long story short, i burnt my motor yesterday, and need either a new motor or new power head. I am not rebuilding again, done it twice.

I have been told that a replacement head is around $3000, but i was wondering if i had other options like converting the engine to an EFI? the motor is a 1995 XR6 and i am tire of the carbs. Any suggestions?

+1.... Definitely need to determine an accurate CAUSE (otherwise... history is BOUND to repeat itself).

Reman powerhead is certainly an option.... OR, you could look for a good-used engine (complete).

Although you "could" bolt a complete, fully-dressed EFI powerhead to your midsection, there are gearcase considerations also (you may, or may NOT have an appropriate gearcase).

a few years back some kids vandalized the boat ripping a few wires out in the process. i learned sunday on my way back to the launch that one of them was for the low oil safety. i got on step and after not to far the motor slowly bogged down and shut off, and that was all she wrote. slow quite death got home to realized the main oil resivoir was bone dry as was the one on the motor i have ran low on oil before and the alarm would go off, the engine would cut, or i couldn't start the motor.

i have overheated the engine while driving in mucky bottoms. the alarm always went off. not this time. so that is why i didn't want to talk about it. ultimately it is my fault and should have checked the reservoir.

And... you'd have some spare parts for future use (from your old engine).
