Looking for ideas where to start.Out Yesterday,motor running along and then jumped down to idle.When put in gear,prop spins but doesnt push boat forward much,just a crawl.Motor idles fine,no previous issues,ran great all day till this.

Check the prop hub, sounds like it let go.

If it spun the hub wouldn't the motor have reved through the roof?

Perhaps your description isn't very clear....
Will the engine "rev or accelerate".... or is it a case of the engine will shift, but will only IDLE?
