    Question 2008 TR186 2008 Mercury 150 XR6 Issues Low RPMs

    Just picked up a 2008 TR186 with a 150 XR6-23P Tempest Plus-Hrs on motor 14
I added an 8" Jack Plate and Dual Talons-Talons are not Dragging
WOT, Light Load, Me Driving, 1/2 Tank Gas
Prop 3" to the Bottom of pad
    RPMs--4900
    MPH--51.6

Just doesnt sound like its opening up all the way, I checked the hot foot and it has full range though the linkage.
Smokes pretty good, I assume its still double oiling? Really lazy out of the hole with 2 people and full livewells it
will not get on pad without second person sitting on front deck.Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Steven

I would raise the motor a little if you can. 1/2 inch. What size Pvs plugs are in the prop? May need to open them up some to help your holeshot.

For an 08 to have only 14 hrs it's been sitting quite a bit. Might consider having the carbs looked at. You should be turning 54-5500 rpm @ about 60mph. Full live wells will slow down the holeshot some but your passenger shouldn't have to move up front.

You are probably too low since you added the 8"jackplate. Raise the engine 1/2 inch at a time and watch your water pressure.

I thought it was an XR6 and I was wrong! Its an EFI, taking it to the shop monday for the first service-It sat quite a bit, guessing fuel filters or injectors???? Do these have air filters? Acts like its not getting enough air.

Might want to pick up a 10-Micron fuel filter or something equivalent to that. I had issues with my Yamaha's injectors because of all the Ethanol in the gas. My Wide Open Throttle RPM's is 5950 with excellent water pressure. The ethanol did some damage to all of the injectors and my RPM's would only get to 5100 at WOT.
