Mine somehow came loose and wasn't on the motor when I got to the ramp today. Can I run without it till I get a replacement?

I would feel more comfortable answering this question if I knew which engine you have... and had your serial number.![]()

There is a check valve in the fitting.... however, it is highly recommended that the plug be in place.
FYI... a standard garden-hose-bib thread is appropriate. Temporarily, you could utilize a "plug" purchased through your local hardware store.![]()
