    Gapping Spark plugs

I got the IzFR6J spark plugs per the reccomendation on the FAQ. I also saw that a .32-.33 gap is required for my 2005 225hp Pro XS. My question is how to properly gap this type of plug. It doesn't look like the type that I could use a gapping tool on becuase it has such a narrow point,,, it looks like it would break off. Does anyone have a good technique for this?

    Please advise.

That's a pretty good video. Just make sure that you apply NO PRESSURE, whatsoever, between the arm and electrode, as it can not only damage the iridium tip: you can also crack the porcelain that surrounds the tip, causing carbon trails to form in the crack (with eventual misfire problems).

A good way to avoid this is to use the "wire size" style gap tester.... as pictured in the video, and utilize one size smaller than spec to ensure it fits "loosely". Then set a wire one size LARGER at the opening (don't attempt to force it in), while inspecting to ensure that it will NOT fit (indicating that the gap is in between the two sizes). This helps to prevent inadvertantly "wedging" a tool into the gap, and damaging the plug.

DO NOT use the "disk-style" el-cheapo tool you saw at the beginning of the video, as they're notoriously inaccurate, and can easily become wedged.
