oil leaking where prop meets the lower unit.

I took my boat in last week to get a full service done. Impeller, lube, filters and oil change. I took then took the boat to Table Rock last weekend and it ran fine. I put it away in the garage yesterday and I have to trim the motor down to fit it in the garage. Well when I came home tonight I noticed that there is oil leaking down the skeg and some running down the prop. It is greenish and looks to have water mixed in. I then trimmed the motor down more and some water came out of the lower unit between the prop and lower unit. It is a 2008 250 pro xs. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Probably lower unit lube, check to make sure your lower drain plug is tight, you will have to take your prop off and look just under the propshaft, it could also just be a little spillage that wasnt wiped off or cleaned up that dripped out when they changed the lower unit lube.

I was wondering if it was excess. Do u think the excess would have been washed out this past weekend? I was in a tournament and had her opened up several times. I have read on a few forums that if it was over filled it could have blown out the seals.

If you ran it that much, it's unlikely that it's simply "old spillage".

I would recommend sampling the gear lube (if there's water present, or a milky appearance- HAVE THE GEARCASE PRESSURE TESTED TO CHECK FOR LEAKS).

Take the prop off and check for fishing line in the seals. That happens alot.
