    Don's Rant.....

I think the service Don Weed and European Marine is so vastly underrated and under appreciated I felt it necessary to start another thread to personally express my thanks and appreciation to Don.

I am a relative newcomer to this board but check it several times each week. My family was the oldest Johnson dealer in S.C. until we couldn't make it work anymore in the mid 80's. The younger guys in our family just didn't want the risk, headaches and low or no return for our time, money and efforts. By the way, while at the lake there was never a moments peace because a potentially new customer or an old customer had problems or just wanted to talk and that cut into our family time or personal recreation. But....... just like Don... I love the marine business and I understand his points.

About a year ago I bought my first Mercury motor. A new to me Mercury 250 XS. I didn't and still don't fully understand this motor. Don has answered many, many questions on this board from me and saved my vacation this Feb. by diagnosing a problem on the phone/board and by very promptly getting a couple of relays to me. I have purchased a number of different items from Don this year including a merc monitor, digital gauge and tach as well as other stuff. By the way, I had a problem with the merc monitor and Don handled for me very promptly and professionally.
I have never met Don Weed in person. I live about 700 mi from Greenville, S.C. and wish I could take my motor in to his shop. I have 2 mercury dealers within 15 miles. I would not trust either to change the oil in the foot. That is why I am so thirsty and appreciative for Don's help and knowledge.

All I can say about all this is I have not found another site or person interested in answering as thoroughly and plainly as Don Weed/European Marine....

    Many, Many Thanks

    Re: Don's Rant..... (ZO6)

I agree wholeheartedly!! I had issues with my fresh rebuilt 1996 2.5L 225 ProMax and Don answered my questions on the 2.5Liter forum and with the help of some other very knowledgeable 2.5L guys figured out my problems. Don got me the parts I needed and has since been providing me with parts whenever I need them.

His wife Rhonda is also a pleasure to deal with. Their knowledge and service is greatly appreciated. Can you imagine dropping in at a marina somewhere and asking them all kinds of tech questions and have them troubleshoot your problem on the spot?? Well that's what Don does right here on BBC. Free of charge!!

So guys, if ya need parts get them from Don if he helps ya out with a service issue. And if I lived near him my rig would be there when I needed service.
