    Don-Alternator Output

The alternantor does not seem to be putting out any juice. I am taking it out of the motor and going to test it at one of the auto part stores. We tested at the battery while the motor was running and we tested the wire in the back of the motor under the alternator. We were getting nothing at the battery and very sporatic at the wire under the alternator.

Please define "very sporatic" at the alternator. Very important question!

    Re: Don-Alternator Output (EuropeanAM)

I tested it at the auto parts store and it has no output at all. I ordered an aftermarket alternator. Will this be ok?

    Re: Don-Alternator Output (jbell39)

I usually don't recommend aftermarket electronic parts. Unfortunately, in an effort to keep/cut costs down, QUALITY is compromised in many cases.

There's also the question of proper Marine Ratings.

That being said- in reality, a "functional" alternator is almost always an improvement from one that's "non-functional".

Well the alternator that came from the factory didnt last for 300 hours and it says "made in korea". The aftermarket one that purchased has a 1 year warranty for 1/5 of the cost. I am not sure where it is made, but I will let you know when I receive it.

Was good talking with you on the phone yesterday.

Did you attempt to swap the original alternator back into place after sorting out the electrical problems we discussed?
