    Bass Club question.

Sort of a little whine session also. But, I've a question at the end.

At each meeting our bass club takes motions and votes on time/place for the next tx.
Usually about three choices, and, like electing officers....when it's time to vote, usually the 1st one mentioned is "it".
For example, time and places are brought up...in this order.
    1) One guy says "X" ramp/6-2
    2) Somebody else throw out "A" ramp/8-noon (yeah, I know...maybe I'll get into "that" another day.)
    3) somebody throws out "X" ramp 7-3.

Now, time to vote and the pres calls them out, always in the order received, show of hands, and 90% of the time, the 1st one mentioned carries.

Last tx, it was HOT. A very few of us thought I'd be something to try a night tx, so, It was mentioned. FIRST.
When it came time to vote, pres. hum hawed a bit, and said "we'll just start from the last". Sure nuff, Number 3 got it.

Now, next meeting we are gonna go thru this again, and I can assure you...NIGHT tx will be mentioned. And it'll be mentioned LAST.
So, when they start asking for votes from the 1st, down....

    Well, what would you do?
I think the new secret color is "A-Rig"..........

Vote for what you want!!!! You mite talk to several of the guys ahead of time and try to talk them into voteing for a nite tx. Good luck with getting them to see it your way!!! If that doesn't work, you mite try useing a water board on them before that gets outlawed!!!! If you can't get a water board, you can always wear a backpack to the meeting and tell them if they don't see things your way, your going to blow them to the great lake in the sky!!!!(not recomended unless used as a last resort!!) Or you could tell them that there going to have to have it durring the nite because you've became allergic to sunlite!!!!

P.S. if useing backpack method,be sure to wrap a towel around your head first!!!(looks more realistic!!!)

Our last bass club tournament was a night tournament on Degray. I wish all our summer tournaments were at night. Fish bite better, not as hot, and I love night fishing...

Pretty sure NIGHT tx is out of the question.

When taking suggestions on time/place......It's innevitable, one of the choices will be from 7:00 to Noon.
It may be the only bass club where half the members are afraid of fishing.

That's nuts...we always fish from safe light til 3ish. If it's a two day tournament, we fish til 2 the second day.

What sucks though is we don't vote on the locations. The president, which changes yearly, sets the schedule. There are some "normals"...Dumas in March, Millwood in August, Dardanelle in September...night on Degray during July. Others vary.

We have a selection commitee in our club. The selection members serve 2 terms of 4 months each. We schedule 4 months at a time. The commitee looks at all the varibles that we can to select the least crowded ramps to fish from, and try not to fish on weekends that the bigger trails are fishing, like the BFL, ABA and Vince's super team and couples tournaments. Our day tournaments go from safe light to 3. Our night tournaments go from 7PM to 7AM. There are a regular lakes that are hit during certain time of the year, Hamilton in January, Dardanelle in March, Ouchita, and Degrey are usually the night tournaments In July and August.

    A TWO day tx???!!!???
    The bass club I fish???

This club has changed with the times. I've heard stories about how they used to go to Ouachita and other lakes for a whole weekend. Practice one day and fish the next.

Mention a lake, darn near any lake, and sure enough, one of the guys will say "yep, club fished that lake one year.
Mention some wild format and yep....done it.

But, they have changed with the times. The older the majority gets, the more the tournaments look like nursing home field trips.

    Bass Club question

    No show of hands !!!
Clubs here are going to bringing a small Post It yellow pad and using them as ballots.
A show of hands for dates or lakes or launches is just asking for division...TROUBLE.

I have been in 6-7 clubs over 29 years...and in 4 now since retirement...been there.
There are 6 clubs here in this great area for lakes so lots of opportunity to try things.
Another thing is to have a rule you can't fish the same lake twice in a row or more than (say)..3x a year...it levels the field...IF you are in an area with enough lakes.
Another great local move was a 1pm weigh the summer months...attitude-attendance much better...and to think all those years the weigh was at 3pm in 100+ degrees...now you are on the way home in the truck AC...safer too.
