I know this is probly a very basic question and I do apologize, however I do not know how to drain this, or even if you can drain it or if you have to replace it. Its a 2001 225 Merc Optimax. Pictures would be great too. Thanks guys!

Removal and draining is quite simple.... sorry, never thought to take pictures of the proceedure.
-Disconnect the water in fuel sensor wire from the bottom of the filter.
-Unscrew the filter (counter-clockwise, as viewed from BELOW the filter, looking UP)
-Pour contents of filter into a glass jar to inspect for water
-Lubricate seal of replacement filter with 2-4-C, or Vaseline
-Reinstall filter
-Reconnect water in fuel sensor wire
-Pump primer bulb until firm
