    Rod storage VS center storage

I have noticed alot of guys storing rods in the center storage and tackle & gear in the rod locker in front of the driver. It looks to me that you have alot of wasted space by using the center storage for rods. The other problem is weight along with the console, drivers weight on the far outside of the boat. I would think more weight dead center would be better. Rods and reels are not very heavy. Just a thought I was wondering.

Re: Rod storage VS center storage (BULLET FAN)

I like putting my rods in the center and my light tackle, life vests and such on drivers side front. Guess it dont matter as long as you stay balanced and keep the heavier stuff in the back.

Re: Rod storage VS center storage (BULLET FAN)

I keep my rods in the center. They are so much easier to get in and out. Plus the center holds longer rods and more of them.

The center compartment is not very good for tackle because you can not reach far up in there. The door is a bottle neck. When you store rods you get to use all of the space.

If you keep tackle in the left and right sides it stays balanced. I keep pretty much all my tackle up front. It probably costs be 3 mph, but I'd rather have the convenience.

the center compartment on the 21' is the BEST rod locker out of any boat!!! You dont have to bend the snot of your rods to get them in there and you can store up to 8' rods with no issues.

All my "goto" tackle is up front, in front of my drivers console. I try to keep it light. The stuff that is seldom used goes in back.

The balance could be an issue, but not nearly as bad as my allisons. Especially if you keep your tackle in front under 40#

Center for rods. If you put tackle in there you are storing it in a BIG compartment but you are using the one with the smallest door!!!! Rods are WAY easier to get out of the center and tackle is WAY easier to get out of the sides.

When I got my boat, it had the rod organizer in the drivers side rod locker and I used it like that all year and couldn't stand it! I took it out this year and put them all in the center, and then dispersed my tackle to the side compartments....That's the way to go, for me anyway! That center compartment is the best rod box ever made IMO!

Heavy stuff in left front and rear compartments. Lighter things in right front and rear. Rods in the middle.

This is both when alone and with a partner fishing. Balances the boat better.

Rest in Peace Buddy Poche - Bayou Bullet.
I will miss you my dear friend.

Thanks. I guess it is a preference thing. I just thought weight distribution would be better in the center and no wasted space. By the way it takes me forever to read one of your post. Nothing bad about your grammar it is just my eyes keep getting drawn to the left side of the screen. I am becoming a LSU fan more & more thanks to you and PIJMAN.

It's easier for me to rebalance the boat when my partner fishes now that the rods are in the middle.

    Re: (timmaahh12)

In my bullet I have rods in the center storage, go to tackle and storage organizer along with rain gear and life jackets in the compartment in front of driver consol, spare baits and plastics behing driver seat(about 7 3730 storage containers), the front left rod box is empty, the left storage behind passenger seat is empty, this works pretty good for me, because in the left rear of the boat are 2 optima batteries a battery charger and a Bass MaxxII charge on the run system, on the right rear is one battery and a charger and oil resevoir.,,, My boat is not setup for the passenger in mind but it helps to balance the boat better with so much on the left rear,,, although my passenger does love having a place for his rods and tackle when we go on trips, and allows for an uncluttered floor.

    Re: (nsane)

The rods in the center, makes best use of it and gives you easier access to everything. Although it may seem like using the center for rods wastes space the reverse is true... What happens is when you use the center for storage of gear , everything gets pushed up to the front and hard to see and access with the center hatch... With the rods in the center the rod tips are up front insread and with your tackle and gear in the side lockers you can easier see and get to your gear.. I have found that rod socks on your rods in the center hatch does the best job..
