What compartment are you speaking of? The ones on either side of the live well?
You can drill a hole any where you want but if you put it the wrong spot it will be a fill hole.

I use a shop vaccum to get any water out of the compartments. Drilling holes of any kind in my boat makes me a little sick feeling!

The compartments and live well sides and bottom are just thin fiber glass with a gel coat finish, you can drill a hole at the bottom, back corner closest to the live well but be ready for the bit to go through very quickly.

If you tap on the bottom of the storage compartment it will sound solid, that is because most of it is glassed to the hull itself so do not drill down drill at an angle in the corner of the compartment.

For a little more general info the side of the live well and storage box are glassed to a stringer.

Get a new seal. GUYS...be carefull about just drilling holes anywhere!!!! The water that drains can get soaked up by the flotation foam and eventually that can cause PROBLEMS!!! It may not just go straight to the bottom of the boat in the sump area.

+1 Call Bullet before drilling any holes. That box is fiberglass like Lou says the hole will need to be coated also after drilling.

    Re: (Longrodder)

Steve you are correct for the front compartments, but there is no floatation around or under the back ones, this area can be seen when tank is out.

Guess I should say that drilling holes is not a good Idea unless you have seen these boats from the inside out, but I did do it on my 20xd when I had water problems shortly after I bought it in 02.

    Re: (Largemouthlou)

I drilled a 1/4 inch hole at the bottom inside back corner on each of the compartments beside the livewells on my 2002 21 XDC and the water drains into the bilge with no problems...

    Re: (Largemouthlou)

Lou I had the same leaking on my 2006 xd because the rubber around the livewells started coming loose and I just pulled it all of, thats where the problem started. Just call Bullet and replace the rubber inside that puts the lid up against it and it will cure the problem.
