    24V or 36V Troll motor?

Hey,what should I go with for a troll motor for my 21XDC,24V or 36V? Im worred about the extra weight of a third battery for the 36V system. Will this make a difference in my top end performance ?

you can run a 36 volt without have'n four batterys n the boat. just use your starting battery as the third battery. all i had to put on my cc was 36 volt, and i've got it rigged that way, works real good so far. you can ski behind this thing on high

A high thrust 24V does just fine.

If my 82 # is not enough its too windy to fish there, Im finding a new spot.

It won't make that big of a difference in speed by adding a 4th battery. Although, as some have said.....the highest thrust 24V is usually sufficent on the bullet hull

Depends on how & where you fish. I fish downwind a lot, and I cover LOTS of water. I have to have a 36 as no 24 will last a full day for me. Weight, since it's at the stern, is only a couple MPH slower.

Re: 24V or 36V Troll motor? (John Jackson)

i am with jackson on this one! if you tournament fish, always buy the biggest troller you can get!!!

I run 3 good optima batteries in my boat with my 36v system. I fish in big waves, wind and current. There is NO way a 24V can keep up.

Of course, if i wasnt fishing tournaments, i would fish the calm side of the lakes! :)

However, i do hope all my competitors use 12v systems! :)

    Re: 24V or 36V Troll motor? (jimmy7)

I don't fish waves or current. I run a 24V with two Optima 31's and I have no complaints and have never felt the need to have more power on the bow.

I believe there is also added weight to the troller when you bump up to the 36v 101's or 109's How much I am not sure but I am pretty sure the foot is larger...

Re: 24V or 36V Troll motor? (Hydrilla)

if I were to do it over again (soon I hope) I'd get the 109 M/G as the 82 M/G is strong but that one time you need it and its happened to me in Grass / Mats. I lost several fish and its only that one time a 109 would have got ya their. I do fish current and the 82 has been plenty good and more than enough. I run the Exide ORB-34-DC36 batteries (40 lbs each) and they last great with 82 lb 24 volt and buddy has a 36 volt setup 109 and it's on a sled. never lost power even when hammerdown on them. I weigh with the exides (if I was 36 volt) the same as some 31 group 24 volt setups. 120 lbs (3-Exides) vs. 120 lbs (2- hvy batts)

I have a 36v MG 10? thrust because when of the strong current below the dams here. I use a 3 battery setup.
