Fuel Injector Alarm on 250 PRO XS

This morning after running a couple of miles my smart craft alarm was going off. The code was fuel injectors 59 starboard see dealer soon. I started the motor back up and the alarm never went off again for the rest of the day. The motor did this once before after I had run the tank pretty low and filled the tank up. I had just filled the tank up this morning also, after having run it pretty low again. Could I have just had an injector that was stuck open and it cleared itself or could it be something else?

The computer does not sense how much fuel is actually going through and injector. It can tell if the injector coil is in specs, too high or too low resistance. A sick injector can cause lean condition if it is not opening fully and will damage piston! Have it checked out before running further.

    To add to this....

KEY ON, ENGINE OFF: This is when the PCM will see an "OPEN" injector or injector circuit (such as in the injector is unplugged). Not normally detected with engine running.

KEY ON, ENGINE RUNNING: This is when the PCM will see a "SHORTED" injector or injector circuit (such as water in an injector plug, or any other short). These can be interesting to find, especially when "intermittent" (such as you described above).

Many intermittent injector problems are found in the wiring connector at the injector (water splashed into connector, corrosion, or loose/damaged pins).

A computer diagnostic printout of the Freeze Frame (FAULT) History will help to further narrow down which of the fuel injectors (or direct injectors) experienced the fault.
