Need a little help diagnosing an alarm

My brother just called me and said his 90 hp merc sounded an alarm but he checked and had good stream flow on the water pump discharge. The oil reseviour was full as well. He said that it has the ability to shut the rpms down in the case it overheats or the oil gets low, but it didn't do it. It ran like normal, just had an alarm. Any ideas ?

I think Steady alarm is Overheat, Intermittant is Oil. I know on my Old merc 200 the oil float got logged and wouldnt float up causing an alarm.
