Trim guage hookup on Bullet with 250 xs

I have a Bullet 21XDC with 2004 250XS that I want to install a teleflex trim guage in .... Where do I hook the wires from the guage to..? The teleflex instructions are awful... My 250 XS has a trim sender unit and it worked when I had it in my Blazer...

For an ANALOG trim gauge installation, you'll have the following wires, with the following functions:

Purple: Keyed ignition power. Jumper from an adjacent gauge.

Black: Ground. Jumper from an adjacent gauge.

Blue: Backlighting. Jumper from an adjacent gauge.

Brown w/white stripe: Trim Sender. Locate in ignition switch harness, and connect to the "S" or "Sender" terminal of the gauge. A complete connection through the ignition switch harness, into the cowling, and connection to the trim sender wire (also brown w/white stripe) is required.

Thanks, Don, I found a blue wire that does indeed give me backlight , So all I have to do is jump the purple and black from another guage (how about the tach) and hookup the brown with whitestripe to the S on the back of the guage and that should work my trim guage ? ?

    Correct.

Re: Trim guage hookup on Bullet with 250 xs (EuropeanAM)

Is the brown/white wire included usually in the plug in wiring harness on the engine up to the ignition or will I have to find it under the cowl and run a dedicated wire to the guage ?

The Brown wire w/white stripe IS usually included within the keyswitch harness.

At the engine, it may be "jumpered" around the cannon plug via a "bullet connector", and at the dash end, it is usually included in the Instrument Wiring Harness (along with the wires for the tachometer).

Re: Trim guage hookup on Bullet with 250 xs (EuropeanAM)

I found a brown with white stripe wire that looks the same as the one coming from the trim sender in the maze of incredibly tightly wrapped wires under the dash and spliced to it with one of those inline splices .. I jumpered the rest like you described. When I turned on the key the guage went from full up to full down which seemed normal. When I tried the trim however the guage does not move and stays full down...Any suggestions ?? I guess it is possible that this brn/white wire was not the right one but the fact that it does go from full up to full down has me puzzled...

Follow the wire from the trim sender (where it comes up into the cowling) and ensure that it's connected. You'll also need to verify that the brown wire w/white stripe is indeed connected to "jumper" around the cannon plug (igntion switch wiring plug inside the cowling).

As an alternative you CAN directly connect the sender wire to the bullet connector at the CANNON PLUG.
