    Home Warranty Question?

WHo has the best Home Warranty around? Mine is about to expire soon, and the individual I bought my house from payed for the 1st years warranty. I want to renew somewhere because I dont want to have to come out of pocket if my air conditioner breaks or something else expensive. Who yall reccommend??

Never heard of one. Seems like an AC would be cheaper than a warranty though?!?!

Like America Home Shield. Most of them you pay around $60 bucks if they come out to fix, plus around $800 a year for the coverage..So you are looking at $860 for a new A/C unit....some have limits some dont. Just curious if anyone has a coverage they like

yep. Its a good investment....because you know, when it rains it pours! and a waterheater,ac unit...ect can add up quick...I like to know I am only going to spend less than a grand to replace all if they were to go out during that year....

Most are not worth it. If a/c does go out tewill put the cheapest junk they can buy. And it will be installed buy the cheapest installer. You get what you pay for.

BUT a new AC Unit and a Water Heater last at least 15 years each. A new AC is about $5,000.00. A new water heater is about $450.00 which adds to $5450.00 plus 10% contingency = $5995.00. So how is paying $12,120.00 in insurance equate to a better deal? Insurnace is not designed to help you, insurance is designed to make money.

you got a point! I bought this house last year. The water heater and A/C unit is as old as the house (house is 1980)...suprised they are still ticking. The only thing that is new is the motor on the outside part. I know they are going to go out anyday now, just got that feeling with their age. The wifes in nursing school and I pay all the bills so I figured I would by one this yr and take the chance that they are going to go out and not have to come out of pocket. Once the wife finishes school I will be OK and wont buy one. Thats why i am looking into one

What about saving that money aside that you would use to purchase the warranty, keep adding to it and use it to relace the AC? Like posted you get what you paid for. Our old house AC went out (several years ago) and I wanted to get a decent unit, well wife had to use some family friends and let's say this AC is junk and I believeits part of the problem of my house not cooling off properly along with other things.
