I leaving Tuesday morning for Poverty Point reservior at Delhi, LA. Going up I-55. Someone told a buddy of mine that 200 mile stretch of road is busted up and a trailer shaker. Any of you guys travel it lately? I'm thinking of rerouting up I-49.

i55 is always a trailer shaker between hammond and independence...i swear i think my boat is gonna rattle off the trailer through there sometimes...haha...its smooth from independence to a good ways in to missisissppi...i cant speak for above, say mccomb...been a about a year since ive been through there and i just cant remember..
hammond to independence is only about 20 miles...definitely towable..not worth re-routing for... now this 200 mile stretch??? hmm..not sure where that is...
to go to north la, you should be hitting 20, right?? thats in jackson i think....theres no 200 mile stretch on 55 between the state line and jackson...so, maybe 20 is rough??
i went to brookhaven a few weeks back no worse than usual. which isusually bad but not worth rerouting

yeah im thinking he must be speaking of the 20 or 30 miles getting close to jackson...its always been a little bumpy, kinda like hammond to independence...maybe they have it torn up worse now..
but still not 200 miles..
it has been resurfaced from amite to kentwood . Is still a bit bumpy up in Ms. but just break the law and ride the left lane , it is better than the right!
I always stay in the left lane it's a bit better than the right lane

From I-12 to Amite is pretty bad, but they are in the process of redoing the road, so there will be construction set up there... Mississippi has a couple of short sections that are bad - from the state line to McComb is a little rough but not too bad, and then from Terry, MS to I 20 is bad in the right lane.
I drive a truck down I 55 regular, and the LA section is the worst that I drive - thank God they are redoing it.
Guys, thanks for the comments; the fella was towing campers back from the deer camp in Miss and was running south on I-55. Maybe he said those 20 miles seemed like 200 miles - either way it wasn't first hand info to me and I'm glad to have the board's input. I mapquested the route and I-55 to 20 west then exit at Delhi is just too easy, not gonna reroute.![]()

You can save some time and miles by getting on Highway 27 at the north crystal springs exit, andfollowing 27 to vicksburg and then get back on I-20 in vicksburg on in to delhi By the way i love that lake, Lousianna did it right on that one. Also that is a easy route.
Let us know how you do. I have a club tourney there this coming Saturday!![]()
