I need to get a new cranking battery for my 250 HP Merc. Any suggestions? I'm pretty ignorant on series, cranking amps, etc. Appreciate any knowledge ya'll could share.

I like the Sears Die-Hard and the Deka batteries.... of course, with the Die Hard, you can almost always find a store for a replacement (even if you're out on the road).![]()

I just get the new Diehard AGM Platnum that has 1150 CCA and 205 RC. After a tournament last Sat. and running both livewells and electronics all day, I decided to check the voltage with my volt meter before I charged them that night. The battery showed 12.7 volts. I did have to make a 15 mile run back to the landing and maybe it charged during the run but 12.7 is not bad after a day of fishing.
I replaced an Insterstate 27 with the Sears Diehard platinum 31 and I am very happy with the results. This battery is made by Odyssey and the specs are really good. I also like the no maintenance compared to the interstate.
