Looking for a small specific part for a 3.0l

I didnt post this in the parts section or the wanted section because I figured most of the 3.0l guys go to this forum more! I have a 1998 300 PM and I need the small metal clip that attaches to the upper and lower harness assy. Fits inside the harness and "latches" into the fuel and ignition ecu. Should be the same on all 3.0l engines. Mercnet doesnt show this little part by itself but I gotta have it. Anyone that has a junk harness laying around to pull it out of???? Thanks!

Re: Looking for a small specific part for a 3.0l (trashy)

Those things are easy to loose.......been there done that. I had to buy a used harness just to get the clips. Let me share some info with you once you find some........ I cleaned out the pocket they fit in on the ECU wire harness connector/plug with brake cleaner, took a small screw driver and scratched up the surface they fit in. Then added some 5 minute epoxy with a tooth pick in the pocket and installed the cleaned clips. You couldn't loose them now if you wanted too. In it's original OEM form, it's not the greatest design from Merc, that's for sure.

Good luck on finding some, it's gonna be tough..........check on Ebay for used harnesses and make sure you ask the seller if those clips are both there before you buy, or you could be buying the same problem some one else had............

I just took a look see on Ebay and there's one for sale if your interested......it's a shame you gotta spend that kind of money for 2 clips, but then again there's allot of spare plugs on there that might come in handy one day:

Thanks for the heads up Gary, I saved it to my "watch list" on ebay!! Trashy, appreciate keeping the eye out!! Yeah I thought about glueing them things in too--they do come out easily and when you unplug the harness it falls right out so if your not watching/listening you dont even know theyre gone till too late!
