    St.Jude tournment

just wanted to let you guys and gals know that we are still having the st.jude tournment this year. for those teams who have fished it in the past you should be seeing your app. sometime this week we mailed them out last week, i know we are late with the app's but we had some issues to work out. one thing that you will see that is different this year is instead of winning a boat for 1st place we are changing it to a gaurenteed $10,000 1st place yes gaurenteed. and for those who fished it last year with the new bounderies we will have the same boundries as last year anything south of the I10 I12 split.the tournment is april 17th weigh in will still be at lamar dixon at 3 o'clock, if you have any questions you can contact me Neff Villenurve i am the tournment director 225-647-2530. hope to see some of yall there.

    Re: St.Jude tournment (Bump)

we looked at the voting that we took last year and it was about 60 40 to keep it the way we did it last year, we are just trying to get the most boats we can possiably get to fish and if this is the way we have to do it to raise more money for the kids of st.jude cause this is actually what it is all about the kids then this is what we have to do, cause after it is all said and done the kids is the most important part of this tournment.

Ok, i guess there was more that wanted it to stay as is, but alot of guys i spoke with at the weigh in including me wanted it to stay in the basin so that eveyone had to fish the same waters and evened the playing field. I'm still gonna fish it, i just hope you allow people to vote again.. Guess i just miss the old way we did it, it was fun..

    Re: St.Jude tournment (JOHN202)

john i agree with you it was as about as even as you could get it when it was in the basin last year we did have a choice but to move it and the fisherman were forced to fish other places i understand that so this year we decided to do this with the fisherman knowing they can fish anywhere they want inside our boundries and have enough time scout and then we will get another vote this year to see what happen's guy's we as a commitee want to keep the fisherman as happy as possible because we know without you guys there would be no tournment. we just hope that know matter where or how we do this tournment you guys will still come out and support the kids of st.jude

    I will be there!

What is the date and what is the entry fee?

You can claim these entry fees as tax deductions correct?

I've had a personal experence with a friends child that went to St. Jude at age 2. She passed away at age 9 ,but without St. Jude she would have never made it past 2 yrs old. St Jude is the only one i donate to and if i could not make a tourney i would still put up my money and let someone else fish it that could not afford it.
I have 2 kids of my own and you never know what may come your way, so why not give to something that might help you one day, Its kinda like insurance if you think about it, and worth every penny you can give..

    Re: St.Jude tournment (JOHN202)

thank you john for those kind words and it people like you who feel this way is what makes this tournment a sucess year after year. this year this tournment will be a little more meaningful for all of us because this the date that mr. charles and ms.gail's daughter heather passed away with cancer for those of you that dont know these people, these are the two people who actually got this event started some 17 or 18 years ago in a small pond by their house and raised a couple hundred bucks back then and now here we are now and almost 4 million dollars later we have what we have now because of generous people like the ones we have that fish our tournment. again for those who fish it THANKS A MILLION we really do appreciate it

    Re: St.Jude tournment (neffvillenurve)

St. Jude cured my first cousin from cancer when she was 2. They didn't give her much hope but she is now 28 and haven't had cancer since. I agree it is a very worthy cause.

    Re: St.Jude tournment (BayouBiggin)

And I'm not trying to start anything because i do realize the whole purpose for this tournament is for the kids and you guys want the biggest turnout possible. I would fish this tournament no matter where it's held because it is such a good cause..

    Re: St.Jude tournment (neffvillenurve)

Neff i feel the same as John about the waters and boundires. I too will fish if i am off but not sure at this point. i will tell you if you listen to the once or twice a year fishers and want more boats here's my suggestions for you and DCT. Instead of concentrating so much money on first split it up to pay more places so that the guys who seldom fish feel like atleast they have a chance to win their money back. The reason i say this is there are only X amount of hardcore teams that enter feeling like they could win the 10k. That would be less than 100 teams. when your trying to field a 200-250 boat field in a tough economy you gotta appeal to the guys who seldom fish a tx. Next have it on a neutral body of waters so that guys like Me and John etc that have 20' boats with 250's dont have a distinct advantage over the guys with a 15' tin boat. even the playing field for them. this keeps scouting cost down due to less water to scout and less gas to burn. less time to scout the area as the area is smaller. John and i have talked about this before as have i and dave nason today on this very issue. Every Tx we go to at the weigh in are guys who wished they had fished but didnt feel the could compete in the vast areas. Just my .02 cents worth and sorry so this is so long. Hope i am off shift by then and get to fish either way.

    Re: St.Jude tournment (DOUGMCGEEFTD)

I agree with these guys here. It seemed much better in the Amite River basin although the problem seemed to lie at having the weigh in at hilltop.. I understand it was tough on everyone with little parking and the problem the weather played.

    Re: St.Jude tournment (DOUGMCGEEFTD)

i can assure you that the votes were counted and it was 60 40 to move the boundries believe it or not. Mr.Doug if you recall we pay down to 30th place of cash and prizes i dont really know of any other tournments( Charity) that pay that far down and that is a chance for guys to get some of their money back. And what is your answer to neutral body water? And what is the problem with the weigh in at lamar dixon you guys say bass pro or cabelo's for the weigh in and you guys say to get these as sponsors well bass pro is a sponsor and they give us nothing i say nothing everything we get from them we buy yea we get a good deal but they give us nothing for this tournment so why should we try and give them business from our tournment and if we did have it there they still would have teams complain about having to drive all the way denham springs to weigh their fish.and as i am writing this i am getting so aggravated because no matter what we as a commitee try to do to improve this tournment and try to make things better and make more money it just doesnt seem to matter to people all they want to do is sit on the fence post and critize everything we do we work our butt's off to try and give you fisherman a great tournment to fish but that doesnt seem to be enough.people complained about the tournment weigh inn being held at hill top because of the looooong wait to get out of the water so we moved to lamar dixon and they still find a way to complain about that. people complained about the water's we fished so we moved the boundries and they still complain about that so pretty much we are damned if we do and damned if we dont. just once us as a commitee would love for you guys to come up to us and tell us man yall did a great job keep it up, not man yall did a good job but.............. but you know whatever it is what it is we will keep having this event for as long as we can and hope and pray that you guys will support us and the kids of st.jude no matter what we do with this event.
