    2008 250 proxs lowerunit

I had lower unit replaced under factory warranty. The t12 was superseded to t13.I have ran the boat one time and noticed at least a two mile an hour decrease. That got me wondering what was going on ,that is when i found out about t12 going to t13.I talked to a friend who sales mercury motors and he said he replced one recently for a customer and was told t13 is the varado lower unit. His first question to me was did you notice any performance change.I said yes, that is why i am inquiring about the t13.He said mercury is replacing lower units with verado lower unit because it is beefed up but is slower. Can anyone confirm this?If this is true what can i do to get speed back?

The T13 is indeed a Torquemaster gearcase. Note the starboard side of the skeg... it has a "cast in torque tab" (hence the name "Torquemaster").

There were some minor changes to the geometry of the gearcase, specifically the trailing edge of the skeg (it's camphered to reduce blowout).

How many hours have you put on this gearcase? Is it fully broken in?

I'd wait until you've got about 10 hours on that case before you make a "judgement call".

Incidentally.... you should be following the same "break-in" methods as described in your owner's manual (with the exception of the "trim down" which isn't necessary for a gearcase alone).... long "High RPM runs" aren't recommended quite yet...
