    Red River pool 3 advice

    Need some help on pool 3 around the Colfax area, will be fishing there early May and have never been on the Red River.

    You better hope you are. The river has been closed for most of the time since Oct. to now due to the high water. In fact it's probably closed again. If it doesn't rain anymore then it should go down by then but will still be red (muddy). Check back when it's closer and after the snow melts up north.

    You can stay in the Oxbow by the landing and catch all you want Or go north to St. Maurice and and fish around the Marina and the mouth of Saline bayou. Also any rock dikes or hydrilla inbetween can hold fish, Its a huge area with lots of possibilities, good luck

    I dont know why everyone talks about the snow up north affecting the red river !! The red river originates from Lake Texoma between Oklahoma and Texas and the snow up north has nothing to do with it. It may come down the Mississippi, but it has no affect on the red itself. The river is coming up again also, and is really gonna come up this coming weekend with all the rain that's coming. Good Luck !!!
