We started out going to the Natalbany, then we decided to check out the free boat ramp across from the Tin Lizzy's.
I have left Cooper (The grandson) home too many times and we felt it was all about him this time.
The ramp was very good. We got a late start (8:00 AM'ish) but we were just going to go for a long boat ride for Cooper. There were a few people there but it was not crowded at all.
The water in the Tickfaw was very black and clear at the ramp. We motored to the area around the prop stop bar and noticed that there were a few boats gathering but it was not too crouded. After idling past the bar, we got back on plane and headed for the mouth of the Tickfaw River.
To our surprise, at the mouth of the river we found about 10 boats fishing on bottom. Most were reeling in some small Croakers , but we did see about 4 or 5 reds caught in the 5 minutes or so we were watching them. The water was still very black and clear.
We did good in the mouth of the Blind River last week so we got out on the lake and pinned the boats ears back on light chop.
Arriving at the Blind River we noticed that the water had changed to a more silted look. About 6" clearity. We decided we would go ahead and throw a bit there and we found one fish that wanted a spinner bait.
The wind was getting up and we had about 8 miles of open water to cross to get back to the mouth of the Tickfaw. It did get a bit bumppy on the way back, but no issues.
In the pics below you will see what the whole trip was about.

He loved it!!!!!
I think in the morning I am going to go to the mouth of the Tickfaw at the crack of dawn and do some pitching and C-rigging. It sure looked like I could have put a few goodn's in the boat if I had been out on my own.
How about the rest of you guys. Was I the only one who was able to get out there???
