    BRP Question

I was looking at BRP's website and noticed that they no longer offer the 90 degree regular 200HP ETEC, to get the 3.3 liter 200 hp you have to go with the HO. From what I read, you can only get a regular 200 ETEC in the 2.5 liter, it this true?

If so why would BRP discontinue a motor less than a year after it was launched?

This is frustrating for me because IMHO I now own an engine that has been discontinued.

I don't have an answer for you as to why but how many 200's do they need?

Actually you don't have a discontinued motor, the 200HO is the same with just a tweak to the software. It does not come with the Lightning gearcase like the 225HO. Your engine is the same as the 200HO, the 225, the 225HO, and the 250, so it is not obsolete and parts will be available for a long time.

    Re: BRP Question (SEAHORSE)

Thanks guys for your response. Rusty I agree with you, I don’t think it’s necessary to have multiple types of 200HP E-Tec’s; it could make it very confusing for the consumer. I guess my major concern was how this would affect my resale value and the availability of parts and service. Seahorse thanks for clearing up the parts issue for me, would it be possible to get that “tweaked software” loaded onto my motor?

As far as resale value, I wonder if this will actually help, I could market it as a “Limited Edition” model.

Anyway, I spoke to my dealer and they hope to get me back on the water by this weekend, if not I may have to bring “Old Blue” back out of retirement. Old Blue is a Ranger Bass Boat with an Evinrude 135 on the back that my dad bought brand new from the Atlanta Boat Show in 1973. Even after sitting covered up in his back yard for the past two years, I charged the battery and she cranked right up. Took a bit of coaxing but there is nothing like watching a 32 year old two stroke come back to life.

    Re: BRP Question (fish finder)

I was told the reason for this is the 3.3 was always alot more then 200 prop shaft hp. They came out with the 2.6 which is 200 prop shaft hp. The 4 stroke's out there are 200 prop shaft hp. This way when we compare prop shaft hp the Evinrude 2.6 ETEC is alot more lighter then the 4 strokes 200 hp.
