did you pull the cowling off and check the air compressor pully ? that is how mine acted when the compressor locked up and sheared the bolts off

    +1

Inspect to verify accessory drive belt (compressor belt) is intact, tight, etc.

No air pressure = little (or no) fuel pressure.

that all feels ok if i push on the air pump pulley it moves a little but other then that belt is on.
it just will crank and then fire and die out as soon as it fires.

    Please redefine "move a little".

Might not be a bad idea to remove the belt, and spin the compressor BY HAND in a clockwise direction. You should be able to feel substantial resistance as the piston in the compressor comes up on the "compression" stroke, the pulley should not have lateral movement (and should not be able to be pulled "up and down" or "rocked" side to side.

Also listen for any sound in the compressor that resembles a "rattle" or grinding, especially at the bottom of the compression stroke.

    Interesting Question.......

However: Even though I recommend running ONLY the oil as recommended in the owner's manual, there doesn't appear to be any significant correlation between "a specific brand of oil" and "odds of compressor failure".

See this post to draw your own conclusions:

There should be "no discernable up and down movement" in the pulley.

I'm going to recommend that you see your local dealer for "hands-on" diagnostic techniques, to determine whether or not the compressor is the source of your problem.
