    2004 Mercury 250 EFI

Thinking about buying a boat that has this motor, I have had a ProXs, just wondering how dependable this one would be.

Mike, I'm no expert but from what I hear and read, the EFI motors are as solid as they come. they are a bit on the thirsty side and the way you like to run you may need to have an extra 50 gal. tank installed --

+1 Great motor, but expect to use as much as twice the fuel you've been using with the ProXS.

Drop the RPM's down a bit (perhaps 4000 RPM range), and it's not too bad.

Hi Mike. Are you talking about a standard 250 EFI or the Pro XB 250 EFI? Two very different animals. Just asking because the answer could be different between the two. I own the XB and is much different than a standard 250 EFI. Thanks.
