Since I don't schedule tournaments in Kansas, clearly I don't work with the folks at KDWP for permits. However, I see on their website that they require you to contact them 30 days in advance. Are they flexible on that timeline or do they pretty much stick to it? We may consider Perry next year since the weights have been impressive there this spring.
From the site:
Fishing Tournaments
If you plan to hold a competitive fishing tournament on department-managed lands or waters, you are required to obtain a special event permit. This includes tournaments launched from department facilities at state parks, state fishing lakes, or other department properties. You may also be required to pay a fee for the permit, depending on the size of the event and the services required. Please contact the area office, applicable to the event, at least 30 days prior to the tournament date(s) to determine what requirements apply.
