removing (cleaning) prop on 09 225 XS

Last couple of times out, motor "roars" just as the boat should come on plane. I couldn't figure out what it was since motor was running fine rest of the time. Eventually boat would get on plane and motor seemed fine. RPM's would hit 5300 when motor roars. Fished extremly weedy waters this weekend, checked prop and there's weeds wrapped deep in prop. A long set of needle nose pliers can pull some out, but I want to make sure I get them all. I'm pretty sure this is causing my "roaring" problem. Any tricks to removing prop, or just loosen nut and yank 'er off, clean, and re-install??? Thanks in advance Don, and others.

Mercury makes a tube of gear grease for adding a little lube before putting it back on the shaft.

Correct. REMOVE THE PROPELLER, HUB, AND THRUST WASHER.

When reinstalling, recommended that you utilize 2-4-C (or Anti-corrosion) grease on the propshaft.
