OLATHE, Kansas (AP) - Kansas State University is planning a spring grand opening celebration for its new Olathe campus.

Kansas State President Kirk Schulz says in a news release the Olathe campus will bring the Manhattan-based university's expertise in animal health and food safety to students and industry in the Kansas City area.

The first building is the $28 million International Animal Health and Food Safety institute. It will house educational and lab space for research, education and technology commercialization in animal health and food safety.

The April 26 grand opening will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an open house for the public.
